There's a flex-a-lite fan for $100 around here. Is a swap worth the HP gain?
I have no overheating problems what-so-ever, so in terms of pure performance gain, could my $100 be spent better elsewhere?

You can pick up a dual 11" Ramcharger fan for $89 shippied. Add to that about $10-$20 in wiring supplies, and you have a awesome setup that won't break the bank.
i got mine for free.... from a friend, but i kept frying switches (i just wired it to an on/off switch) so until i wire it correctly it's out, i ran the time in my sig with it, and i'm running tonight, so we'll see if there's a difference, i doubt it
yeah, running a stock alternator w/ u/d's, so that was def. a concern of mine...
And I DO need d/r's but I want something I can take advantage of every day, not just a few times during the summer. Plus, if I shave another .5 off my time, then I'll need a custom-built rollcage

You need a relay. A bosch 75a relay should be ideal. Have your switch turn the relay on, then the relay turns your fan on. Use 10G wiring at minimum and use a fuseable link in between the + battery terminal and the + terminal on the relay. The fuseable link needs to be 2 sizes less than the wire its pretecting. I use 10G wires so my fuseable link is 14G.
jaymac, stay away from a flex a lit fan. Buy a cheap used Ford fan or any stock electric fan that will fit.
