I searched on here and caint find the thread that had the part numbers and or the years of the electric fans to get at junk yards? One of the threads here had a chart of the CFM the diffrent fans produced. Can anyone post a link or site to check these?peace

mark8 and taurus fans flow the most.

just get a mark8 fan, look online they are easy to identify. run it through a 75 amp bosch relay. i left mine in the car, so you have one already.

IIRC:

The 3.8L Taurus fan flows about 3700 CFM at 33 amps.

The Mark VIII moves 4300 CFM at 28 amps.

I work in an auto parts store. I tried all the fans, except the Mark VIII, because it wasn't available on the after market, to see what one fit the best. The Contour duel fan covers more of the radiator. Mine cools like crazy. It's been hotter then usual, we have been in the low 90's. My gauge stays right where I want it. I also used a Hayden parts # 3654 fan controller so I could utilize both speeds on the fan. I'm really happy with it.

All the years of Mark VIII fan should flow the same. The redesign in fan pitch and motor RPM offset eachother.

If you do an internet search, you'll find the 3.8L Taurus fan info. It's something like the late 80's through mid 90's Taurus.

Didn't John have a Mark VIII in that car already?

I have one of the Intrepid fans like you do. It looks ok but I have not installed it in anything yet. I see 115* F temps so I'm leery of using it. I think it's easier to retrofit a Taurus fan (it's pretty square).

Since you're having issues finding fans in the first place, you can't really choose anyhow. I'd just grab whatever fan you can (from the known ones that work ok or from a V8) and try it out. Cougars, T-birds, and Volvos are other common donors.

For searching, you have to be specific. For instance, no one on this forum would refer to a fan as 'making the most CFM.' CFM is a rate of flow, and people don't say what flows the most because the best ones are seldom used or known (i.e., the Viper fan is one of the best out there and you seldom hear them mentioned, though they are amongst the best).

A simple internet search for "Electric fan for Mustang" brings up lots of info. If a link or article you read looks like it has a fan you like, search again for specifics for just that fan. Searching like this tends to snowball as you keep finding links inside links and you end up finding the info you want.

Good luck.

My brother put a Contour? fan in his 90 Lx and bought an install kit from Jeg's.

Cools more than enough, and he couldn't be happier to lose the "grandma car" fan

Viper fan here and it works great. Fills my 31x19 griffin radiator like it was made for it. I did have to use 1/4 AL channel to space the fan away from the radiator but it is relatively thin for how much cfm it pushes. Paired with a DC controler I am happy.

I don't post much but I've been considering a taurus fan for my '88 vert. I may have to many ideas in my head but I was wondering if anyone has tried a s197 fan in a foxbody? Will it fit ? Will it work? I know I would have wait on yard donor but was wondering if it will work, will it be worth the wait. Thanks

I had contour fans on my car and it cooled like no other. Worked great at the track in between runs. Easy to install, thin, and covers up most of the radiator. You just have to cut the tabs on the side. Easy install imho
