Electric fan and stock???

It might actually cool worse. You have two fans that might be fighting each other. Electric pushers are usually used in conjunction with other fans, and generally are placed offset from each other to stop one from robbing the other's airflow.

You also need to ask yourself why the fan is not colling as well as it used to. There might be a problem with the cooling system, not the fan. Have the system flushed and pressure tested before you change anything. You might find that you have a blocked heater core or radiator.

If you checked these and are sure the fan is the culprit......
You might also have a problem with clearance. I tried this and didn't have enough room in front to place another fan.

Pushers (fans in front of the rad) dont move as much cfm as pullers (fans that pull air through the rad). The best thing you can do, if the electrical system can handle it, is to upgrade to a Lincoln Mark VIII fan. Motors are readily available for them from most parts stores. You could also try the Taurus fan or the SN-95 fan. If you are not heavily modded than one of the smaller ones will probably cool well for you.

i think stang 951 hit it on the head. are you gonna try to put the same fan in front of the radiator? is it a pusher or puller fan? some are reversable, but it is something to be sure of before doing it.

Are you still running the shroud?
If not that very well could be your problem. . .

dont you ditch the stock shroud when you go with aftermarket electric fans?

Thats what I did. I run it on high all the time and it stays 180 all the time. I like it.

I have a 100% factory cooling setup minus a 180 thermostat, and despite the blower, still run right at 185 all the time.
