do a search and it comes up

found this

Last time i went hunting for the Mark fans, i came across the 4.6 Thunderbird fans, which are physically identical to the Mark fan. The only difference between them is the motor...the Mark fan is a variable speed motor whereas the Tbird is a 2 speed like the Taurus fans are. I've had several Mark fans and i can guarantee you the Tbird fan puts out the exact same amount of air as the Mark fan...the only difference is that you get your choice of speeds. You could run it on low and still cool better than 99% of the other fans available out there. Considering how common the 4.6 Tbirds are vs. the Mark VIII...this in my opinion is something everyone should take notice of as they're super easy to find.

i have a Taurus 2 speed fan wired in on the low speed side and it pulls more air than any other electric fan i've had and i've used several over the years. these fans pull a lot of current so i've got a 40 amp fuse and relay in now. when i eventually wire in the high speed i am going to use a 70 amp relay and a stronger fuse. but the high side is not really needed.
the Taurus fan i have will pull only without changing the fan itself to a push type. i think all fans are like this to be efficient.

I've got a two speed tarus fan on low also and it worked fine in 90's this summer. 40a relay/fuse
(300 rwhp alloy heads, lx, 2 core generic alloy rad)

I set the fan up on the garage floor just to test the high speed (which I'll probably wire in this winter for trips to vegas :D ) and on high speed, it could probably pull the car down the highway... :rlaugh:

You'll need the 70a relay kit for the high speed (painless and others have kits for it due to the crazy popularity of these fans).

As far as I understand these are puller only, and can not be reversed... although I have not tried it myself. (fwiw)

Why don't ya call the two Jeffs at allford (see sig) and ask em', or call chung at blue oval (see sig) I think he usually has one or two of pretty much everything around the shop somewhere... and if he doesn't, he'll know where to get it.

Or call U-Pull it and ask for a "ford guy" and tell em you need one of the two speed taurus fans for an early mustang upgrade, they'll know what ya mean.

They've probably sold hundreds of em...

Or do a flea-bay search for, like... "taurus fan" or "two speed taurus fan" you'll probably get a couple dozen hits.

The guy I bought mine from, even had a wiring diagram posted in his e-bay store so ya knew how to wire it up.
:nice: :D

(think it was like $50-$60 for mine)
