i have a 1988 5.0LX and i want to switch the stock fan to an electric fan.. Theres one on jegs.. this one http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=120363&prmenbr=361 A couple of questions

1) Is this just gonna drop right in and replace my stock fan
2) and i gonna have to wire or rewire that will be too difficult
3) how much extra HP should i get from this.. its one more less thing the belt has to pull so i know there hidden HP there i just wanna know if its worth it for $125

pretty much i just want to know if this will fit and how hard it is to install thanks a bunch

i just installed that fan in my car last week. the brackets it comes with to mount the fan didnt work...im thinkin its because i have a FMS heavy duty radiator. so instaed i used those zip tie things that go through it....im thinkin ill have to change those out everyonce and a while because they stretch.

anyways..the fan is simple to install, electrical connections are simple to figure out. i did notice that my car revs a little faster now. not really any hp gain though...but yeah ..its worth the money and is great quality...the only gripe i have is the mounting brackets......

i got mine delivered from jegs 2 days after i ordered it and that was with normal 9 dollar shipping.......

You might feel a little seat of the pants difference, but It not reduce my et nor raise my trap speed one bit. It's definatley quiter, but unless your fan clutch is completley locked up, your not going to experience a huge difference imho.

i have no cooling issues at all....the electric fan doesnt make my car run any hotter either. another reason my car runs cooler too is because i dont have a/c and i took that big @ss condenser off the front of my radiator that was blocking air flow.....

the e-fan never turns on when i am driving and there is air flow....it only turns on when i am sitting at a light or the car is turned off and it will run for a min or so...

and yes it is really quiet....its really nice to open my engine bay when my car is running and there be no loud fan noise....

Why not get one from a 3.8 Taurus or other cars for that matter....many others will work....take the time to find out......save some money and get what you want...

my friend found an abandonded mitsubishi eclipse and he took one of the electric fans out of that an wired it up on his fox, there was only two wires an it was really easy, just power an ground, no crazy connectors or plugs or any of that crap like on some cars. he also has a 3 core radiator an it fits perfect with plenty or room an keeps his car real cool. any electric fan out of any car would probably work fine and you can get them for cheap from junkyards

so pretty much it would be nice if i had that money just sitting there or a got a good deal on it but otherwise dont do it.. alright thx guys

That would be my take on it, unless your stock clutch or plastic fan is going out. Just keep yours eyes pealed for a good deal. :nice:
