hey guysn soory i no i alreasy hada post about this... but ill be going to the junkyard soon to find an electric fan .. somone mentioned that i could use a sable fan? wht else can i look for .... lincoln? taurus? mustang? what else can i look for .. jsut about anything will work? thanks once again

Mine came from a 93 Sable. All those you mentioned will work.

depends on the displacement of the engine on the donor car. you need to flow some decent CFM's in a stang. i.e. for a sable/taurus fan, one from a 3.8 is best, etc.

the statement that just about anything will work, is not accurate at all.
be ready to do a 3G upgrade afterwards, at some point.

By the looks of the donor parts list it will run you about 90.00 for that donor fan after running around and scrounging up parts. I give it a why bother.

I bought this PROFORM fan from nother auto parts last year for 114.00 NEW.

Its made really well,and have had this thing in traffic in 100+ weather conditions,works really well.

I was reccomonded to get this by someone else last year,and I am very happy with it.

I did the sable taurus fan swap and as soon as summer hit i undid it. Seemed unstable, i noticed no power difference and all i did was worry about the car overheating, about the only thing it was good for was keeping my A/c cold at a stoplight.

I've been told by more than one reliable members that the swap nets almost no hp at all on a rear wheel drive dyno.

If you are going to do it, do it right and get the mark 8 electric fan, blows nearly twice as much as the taurus setup.

As far as the proform, it's definetely a good deal if it works, from what i've heard it's made by the same manufacturer that makes the black magic kit, it's just 75 bucks cheaper. But beware it doesn't work on everyones car, most cooling systems don't work identical.

I got one from a late 80's Pontiac 6000 it looks great, blows strong an fits like a glove with a few longer thin bolts. This is my experience, I choose to spend money on other things, this fan works fine for me.

XP8 Mine works friggen awesome with the Delta Controller. This thing is truely awesome. Your probably didnt work cuse you used a switch or temp relay device. Also, the Mark 8 fan dont work for us 8 rib blower guys.

So I take it you want it to run all the time? If so hook it up to a wire that shuts off with the key. In most cases any yellow wire shuts off with with the key, most red wires are direct power......headlights, horn etc. The easiest way , I think would be run a wire from your starter solenoid on the side that goes to the starter and ground the fan to the chassis. This way it should shut off when you turn the key. A toggle is better as you do not need the fan at all times but if you forget to turn it on.....big trouble or off....dead battery. I have mine to a toggle and a big bright light that you cannot help but notice, that way I will not leave it on when I get out of the car. Good luck.

I have a carbed 85GT. I want to install a fan just for traffic purposes. My stangs a daily driver in a small city, about 130K people. But traffic can be bad. I like to have it turn on at a certain temp, and off under it. Still gonna keep the clutch fan. How would I wire this in? Run a power wire from the alt to a DCcontroler, and ground to the chasis? Im also looking at a 140 amp 3g alt by promaster. Would this be too difficult to install? I know sopme people have to fab up brackets and stuff. Thanks.

Taurus, Sable, Mustang, LS etc, will all work fine for a v8 stang, but if you can come up with a 2 speed Lincoln Mark fan then that is the grandady of all fans, hell it will move the vehicle by itself.

Joe, I dont see why you would run both, but here it is. You run a POS and NEG wire from their respective battery terminals to the Delta Controller, and then you run a POS and NEG from the Delta Controller to the fan on the high speed motor. Thats it. Done. Its so easy.. On the Delta Controller you can pick whatever temperature you want your cooling system to be.

I want one for everyday use, and the electric fan just for additional cooling while in traffic. I live in FLA and in Gainesville theres a good bit of traffic and it gets hot. So many days Ill be running the AC in traffic. Im not wanting to run both systems all the time. Just stock all the time. Thanks for the info. Have a good one.

um, junkyard fans are stock - just not on our stangs.
you might want an aftermarket gauge too - those temps dont sound right.

i have not followed this whole thread, so if im off base, my apologies.

if you are goin to retain the stock mechanical fan and implement a 'pusher' electrical fan in front of the radiator, keep a few things in mind. the fan will have to be a pusher fan, by design (or reversable). most OEM cars dont use a pusher fan.
also, when not in use, the pusher fan will be an impediment to the stock mechanical fan and its ability to pull the full CFM's it would otherwise.

i would, personally, either get a good electrical fan set up (ditching the stock stuff) or renew the stock components with high quality pieces.
