I have an 89 gt convertable with every electrical problem you can get. The car now has a newer, cleaner harness but still major ploblems. I live in Cincinnati, Oh looking for a shop or someone with knoledge to assist me fix this problems. the car cranks but will not start, the lights work but when the hazards come on the whole car surges, power locks and windows don't work, can't start the car with the key

There is a FREE recall on Ford ignition switches. They overheat and sometimes catch fire.

Copy down you VIN number and call the Ford dealer nearest you. Tell them you want to see if the ignition switch recall for Fords & Mustangs was done on your car. They will ask for the VIN number & check it against the master database. If it isn't in the datbase, then you can schedule an appointment to have the switch replaced for free. The TSB is #95S28, and don't let them tell you that they don't do that anymore...

If they won't do it, Autozone will sell you the switch for $10-$12. You'll need a tamper proof torx bit to remove the switch. It is either a t25 or t27 size. Check the wiring for heat damage while you have the cover off.
