Electric Pump + carb fuel regulator ?s

Hi everyone. I'm doing a fairly long-term restomod on my 67 289 that will eventually involve a conversion to EFI. As things stand now I'd like to keep it carbed, but I need to replace the fuel system.

My question is this, is it too much stress on a fuel regulator cutting down 45+ psi from an electric pump to 4-7 psi to the carb? Is there a special kind of fuel regulator needed for such a pressure differential? And finally, can anyone suggest a reasonably priced, adjustable regulator for this application?

You wont find a regulator to do what you want. You will need to either use an in-line fuel pump rated at 7psi or lower, or use the orginal mechanical fuel pump. In the future, you can use an in-line fuel pump rated at 45psi.

if you find a regulator to cut back the fuel pressure your pump is running too much psi and it will burn up. if you want to run a carb ur going to have to get a pump with a lot less psi. my buddy at a high psi pump in a 1989 mustang that was efi and he coverted it to a carb. he tryed to knock down the psi with a stock pump which produces about 45psi and burnt it up. i would suggest getting a smaller inline pump since you most likely dont wanna get a new timing chain cover to put a mechanical pump in. good luck
