are these things good for daily driver mustangs? i do about 30k per year. i dont want to put it in and have to keep changing it. what has it added at the wheels on a dyno? any problems/disadvantages?
This is the third generation pump. I've put 5000 miles on mine with no problems. The warranty on the pump is 2 years. I never dynoed the car after installing the pump.
I'm looking into an electric water pump also. I've noticed more of these in people's signatures so perhaps there are more views about them now? Any regrets? I also drive mine daily, averaging 25k miles a year.
IF an electric water pump is indeed durable and reliable, then it seems to be a good option for me. I don't want to install underdrive pulleys because a Paxton is on my short list of mods to come; but this seems to be a good alternative to the pulleys.
It doesn't free up any horsepower. You eliminate the 2HP load from the pulley set up, and you add a 2HP load to the alternator! What's wrong with that picture. If it was practical, the manufacturers would have been doing it all along. It's for drag motors that run for maybe a few minutes at a time, allowing coolant to continue to flow after shutdown. There's no benefit for street use. But what do I know!
