I noticed on my buddies 87 tonight when we were pulling his motor that he has the factory stickers on his core support still that show the belt diagram. It shows the non A/c to just bypassing the a/c pump completely and it would just use a shorter belt. Could I just buy the non a/c belt instead of messing around with relocating the power steering or using an aftermarket pulley? My car is a 92 I doubt they'd be different.

You can get the shorter belt for non-A/C mustangs at pretty much any auto parts store. I only went with an AC delete pulley when both my compressor AND smog pump went out. Almost forgot, you will need to relocate the power steering pump to where the compressor used to be though, because of the belt tensioner.

Thats the part I dont understand, on the diagram I saw everything was the exact same on a/c to non a/c with only the exception of the shorter belt.

You know, I've also seen routing diagrams like what you're describing using the short 84.5" belt. But in my mind I can't see how the tensioner can hold sufficient tension routed that way.. but maybe I'm wrong : D

Just buy the bracket for non a/c car. It moves the power steering pump up to where the a/c was... You can get it at cj pony parts.. That's where I got mine.. It's a ford racing part, but I am convinced it is just a factory part for a car with no a/c..

Here's with factory A/C delete brackets, identical to Ford Racing.

exactly what I have.. Get rid of that huge a/c bracket.. Don't add another idler pulley... That just makes no sense in my opinion..

The ford racing kit IS the factory a/c delete setup. Even though the sticker shows the p/s pump in the same spot, there are different brackets to move it up properly. This is the only kit you should run IMHO.

No delete pulley required for smog pump. Only time you need a pulley is with certain supercharger kits that require it. Otherwise you can just reroute the belt to bypass the smog pump

Does anyone know where I can get the power steering housing bracket? Not the delete kit but the housing bracket its self. I called prestige mustang in georgia and they want $75. That just seems like a lot for a bracket from a junk yard.
