Ok well heres the story. I took my car to get tested for emissions and while I'm driving home i hear a clicking sound from when it was started. I looked under the hood and listened to the engine in idle and I heard a clicking sound from the first injector(closest to front) on the left. I'm thinking it is injectors but I'm not sure. Any way, what is involved in emisions testing? I thought they just hook up a thing to your exhaust and watch a meter and rev it or something, but what else could it be? I'll get into it tomorrow and pay a visit to those guys to ask them what happened and if it did it during testing. Sorry for it being so long.

Sounds like maybe the spark plug wire for cylinder 1 might have gotten unplugged- have you checked that? During an emission test, they usually put a clamp on the #1 cylinder wire to get an accurate rpm reading- that's the only thing i can think off-
Good luck

when an injector clicks, it generally means it IS working. worry if it does not click. have you used (carefully) a stethoscope or other instrument to find the noise? i liked the plug wire idea. if it becomes slightly unseated, it will make a popping as the spark is discharged.

i might start the motor and turn off the lights and see if you see any lightshows from the wires.

good luck.

How do you know it's the injector anyways? Did you put a stethoscope on it to make sure was the injector and not something else? The emissions varies from state to state. For the most part they just stick a 5 gas up the tail pipe and run it under a load on a dyno. Some states also check for evap. emissions by looking for a faulty gas cap or even for HC's around the vehicle. Pretty harmless tests. It is probably not the emissions guys fault.
