Guys,

have a question about short blocks. I live in So.Cal and was wondering if you had hear good things from Coast High Performance engines or should I go with a DSS short block? I am looking at a 331ci and will be running AFR 185. My current set up is stock bottom end with the heads had to notch pistons made a huge difference. Thanks for your input in advance!

i'm sure we'd all agree: most of us have heard of dss, and good things at that. that's what i'd do.

I like Coast

The things I've seen Mark say and talk about seem right on to me

I really dont think either is a bad company.

DSS is used by anderson ford...not too shaby. I am 100% happy with my DSS shortblock.

CHP was nice on the phone when I called them. Mark the owner (or maybe one of them) is on hardcore and is VERY informative and helpfull.

I simply went with DSS as I am in St. Louis and DSS is just outside of Chi-town so shipping was abit cheaper.

I would not be worried about either choice really.

you can't go wrong with either.

i went with a local builder because the son works in my office during the day and he works with his father, the builder, in the evenings and weekends. i am extremely happy with the engine they built me.

I'm happy with my DSS 331 have had it with my turbo setup for 5 years now. I put it together myself and when I recieved the short block it looked great.

Why 331? Why not 347? Same dollars, more cubes, more power.

It's all about the longer stroke. - my girlfriend

In theory i think a 331 is better for a daily driver which is what mine is, but more is better, plus i got a really good deal on my brand new 331 shortblock from CHP ($1,800)

I think the 331 is a good idea

CHP or DSS are good solid companies overall.

Good Luck.
