I have an engine balancing question. I was wondering where the external weights are supposed to be located in relation to each other. Now say an engine is balanced to a 28oz external balance. Say the 28oz weight on the harmonic balancer is at the bottom of the balancer. Now would the 28oz weight on the flexplate be 180* opposite of the weight on the balancer, or the same as the balancer at the bottom of the flexplate? Just tying to get this straight, cause on a stock motor it looks like the weights are 180* opposite of each other.

Thanks,
Dave

What ATI said, and yeah the dampener has a keyway so it only goes one way and the bolt holes in the crank for the flexplate or flywheel have a certain offset so it only goes one way

this is true, but you cant tell just by looking at the crank or the flywheel. I didnt know this until I tried to mock it up incorrectly ( I had marked the flywheel before taking it out ) and the bolt holes only line up one way.
