Okay, I hate to beat this topic like a dead horse but,
I have a 1993 Notchback
I plan on boreing the block .30 with stock crank for a 306.
I currently have a GT40 tubular intake, GT40 X303 aluminum heads ( 64cc ).
4.10 gears, Tremec 3550 with a centerforce dual friction clutch.
Mac equal length shorty headers, Mac prochamber H-pipe, Mac Catback. (no cats)
I need a reccomendation on a camshaft for this gathering of parts I have.
Also what ratio roller rockers to go with it.
I plan on mostly drag racing the car and only street driving once in a blue moon, like breaking in the gears, motor, tranny, etc. thats it.
I do not plan on using any power adders, but want maximum power with just motor.

I will also keep it fuel injected and will change injectors,MAF,Fuel pump,Adj Regulator, etc.

Thanks for your time

Comp XE282HR-12. part number CL35-522-8
Comp HR lifters. 851-16
Comp Gold 1.6 7/16th rockers. 19044-16

Keep in mind this combo will only draw about 10" of vaccum.

I would suggest a Systemax intake and milling the heads to increase the CR. A competant shop can mill the intake face as well so the manifold can be left stock.

You'll also need 30 lb injectors.

We don't list the cam online but it can be quoted.

That's a great OTS cam rec from Brian. My rec, as usual, would be to go custom. If you want the most from an HR cam, you can get a custom done for less than this particular cam. Most cam gurus charge $325-400. Whichever cam guy you pick can set you up with the rest of the parts that you will need, and will also personally help you out with customer support. Comp has excellent customer service too, though.

My personal preference has to be Ed Curtis who has done a couple of cams for me in various engines.

Head have a huge chanber. I agree with above, get them milled so u can higher compression or use a dome pistion to get 10-11.1. You won't be sorry. If ur staying all motor, no padders, get as much as u can out of the motor.

Brian has the ability to set you up with either OTS or Custom camshaft and associated parts.
Do you have a decent (competent) cylinder head shop near you?

Thanks for the info.

What do you guys think of the X303 cam with 1.7 rockers with notched pistons.
I talked to a Ford Racing tech and he said with my combination, ported and polished upper & lower intake and heads, 30lb injectors, 190lph fuel pump, mass air calibration, etc. I should make between 360-390 horsepower.

What do you think about this combination?

Thanks for your help

I don't know, I don't have any experience with that cam, and your parts combo.
I can say without a doubt, you'll need springs to match that cam and you'll be "rpm limited" so to say.
You can only have so much "rate and tension" springs with a sadi core cam, and this is where rpm comes in to play. If someone can offer you an experienced suggestion on what springs to run and offer you a guarantee it will work within your boundaries... that would be very helpful.
You should consider what affect that camshaft will have on brakes, part throttle, steering also.

Why do you want 1.7 ration rockers with that cam?
In most cases, going to a higher ratio rocker pushes or moves the powerband to the right.
This means more rpm to make more power... sadi core camshaft... ????

Do not expect 360-390 HP.
