engine code ?

i bought a engine and the numbers i found were on the heads are ,DOVE-C,could someone tell me what they mean i think the D,O mean 70 but not sure on the rest .

you are correct about the DO meaning 1970. I think V is the mfg plant or designation of a car or truck engine, and E is engine, but I am not 100% sure on this.

D0VE-C - Cylinder head from a 1968-1972 429/460

Valve size=2.09" Intake, 1.65" Exhaust
Port Size=2.18"x1.87" Intake, 1.99"x1.30" Exhaust

Basically a standard head for the years used... not cobrajet or police interceptor.

The thrird digit is the vehicle designation, in this case,the "V" stands for Lincoln. The fourth digit is for the division that produced or used the part , E is for engine, Z is parts, there are others that I can't recall. The D0VE-C heads are good ones, just not CJ or PI heads. They do have the smaller chambers ( good for compression) and screw in rocker studs ( but they're the positive stop type) Take them and have the larger CJ/PI valves installed and port them to match CJ intakes and exhaust and they actually flow better than the CJ heads, more akin to the later PI heads.

Hi ,thanks for all the great info I plan on rebuilding the engine this summer and I will definitely have the heads done.its going in my 70 coupe.
