The title says it all. I got heads off of my sewing machine engine. I am getting ready to swap the CNC'd pieces back on. I figured that now that most of the engine compartment is exposed, I can address the detail I skipped last year. Currently sporting a rattle can black bay, I can either go the same color but w/ better paint, or change it to the same as the exterior.

I really want a good looking engine bay, all of the bolted on "obstacles" are no
longer there, so I can get a pretty good finish, which ever way I go.

Now while a black bay caters to my theme, I think the engine needs a little kick to set it off. (Quiet Crane) I really think a red version of the bay would set the blue engine off, maybe even some combination of both, like a black saddle and firewall, and red fender aprons. but what to do,.....what to do

I can almost guess the general consensus, but maybe I'll be surprised.

My engine bay features a lot of polished stuff. In fact everything is polished. I used to have a polished/red theme goin on and like it for like 8 years, then it hit me that the red didnt all match and it kinda just slightly looked ricerish. I changed everything to black/polished and it really helps the polished stuff pop/ Thats all i can give ya, if you'd like the 2 diff pics i sould be able to find some and post em up

thats just too much blue. IMHO I would powder coat the intake and the air cleaner, and breathers a wrinkle black to match the bay. I would also pitch the radiator hold downs and go with a one piece retainer.

HEre is 93projects car. He used the scottrod rivet panels. I saw this picture and went ahead and ordered these panels. I am sold on how clean they look. I think they would look great in your car as well if you ever decide to go that route.

I was actually being serious, sorta. I think red with black stripes going along the panels would look kinda cool. If not, red with an lsx swap would look even better.

Dude, I gotta hand it to ya. If you have the time to keep all of that stuff shiny then you have TOO much time on your hands.

I appreciate the pic, but I'm already dreading the fact that I'm gonna have to polish the new wheels when I get around to converting it to 5 lug. My motorcycle never gets ridden because I hate to polish that damn thing.

I like the "Black Bart" look of the Cranes engine. I'll definitely add some contrast to my existing engine. Thinking I'll paint the intake Black.

Now that I know your serious too S.C., I was kinda starting to go the two tone way only maybe I'll keep it black, and bring the red from the body in some way

I'd stick to black under the hood personally, probably a flat or semi-gloss.

If you want to bring the red in I would ditch the blue altogether.

I like the black bay. as for bringing in the red from the body, maybe do the intake as aluminum in color & the lettering on the valve covers in red. What ever way you go, be sure to post pics when your done. good luck mike.
