Hi all,
Purchased a 97 Cobra SVT Ragtop last weekend for a Christmas gift for my wife. Bought it from an owner whom purchased a 03 Supercharged SVT Convertible. About 15 days ago he installed 2-3/4"long tube headers as well as exhaust front to back. No CATS. I have posted here before for a problem with this car cutting out at 3,500 rpm. This is not the story on the car. This car, when you hit WOT at the end of the power band, the car smokes blue. This problem was evident the first time the owner hit the key after he put the aftermarket exhaust on and cold air intake, and not before - approx 300 miles ago. As well, if you ever hit WOT from say 2,000 rpm in a higher gear, after about 3 or 4 seconds the car will cut out for a second and cut fuel to the car. Beyond this, the gas mileage went from 29 mpg to 20 mpg. He declares it is the computer after a lot of research. He guarantees the car doen not smoke blue due to internal engine problems. I have no reason not to believe him - he is telling the truth. Why else would he spend $3,000 on the exhaust rather than fix the engine. He was going to order a chip that would supposedly fix his computer from the US, but somehow when he went into the dealership, he walked out with a new ragtop.

Any help would be great. I am bringing this car to a Mustang specialist next spring to fix. I just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this problem.

I have a pic of my car attached as a link if you care to see it.

Jason

What kind of headers did he put on? They wouldn't happen to be MAC's would they? Blue smoke is caused by something wrong with the engine, if it were computer related it would be running rich and would be black smoke...

They sure are Mac Long TUbe Headers.........I assume from your intial knowledge this may be a sign of something you may know that I won't want to.....
