Engine install question

Installing a 5.0 in a 93 lx Mustang after I pull out the 2.3. I'm doing it with the trans installed and all the front accessories installed.

1. Should I install the motor mounts on the engine or on the frame?

2. Should I install the headers on the engine before installing?

Which is easier with both questions?

i would put the mounts on the motor first. i find it easier to do that way, so then you can drop the stud for the mount right into the k-member. then it gives a pivoting angle and a way "rest" the motor. install with as many things on the motor as possible. it is easier to put stuff on while on the stand, rather than in the car. if you can get away with installing the headers first do it then.

I had the motor mounts on the engine when installing. I put headers on after engine was installed. Probably a tight squeeze with them on, didn't want to scrap them.

i put the mounts right on the block, than slipped the engine in, and they slipped right into their holes, sweetness, easy - and the headers were on for me, but the trans wasnt' so i dunno w/ the shoe horn style about headers needing to be off or not

I would suggest doing it with the front accessories off the engine - these are relatively easy to put on with the engine in the car, but can get in the way of the hoist depending on your setup.
