Engine is In

Cant wait to get her running, its been too long. Looking back I wish I would have kept all nuts and bolts together and label them in baggies or something. Goin good tho, need to install the carb and throttle linkage tomorrow. Heres a pic of the engine and c4 on the engine hoist.

you put the engine in with the tranny on???? interesting..... yeah labeling things in a good thing... thats what i do put then you have about 300 baggies lol....

yep, the tranny was on we have that level deal on the chain and you can get it in there pretty easy. Is there some trick to getting the engine in with the headers on, we just put them in the engine bay and dropped the motor in, this proved to be very difficult as they seemed to be in the way at every angle. Installed the intake and carb today, with all the vacuum stuff etc. I just cant wait, weve taken every bolt to the wire wheel and cleaned it off and painted etc. The PO's of my intake used heli coils *sp where the carb studs would have gone didnt mention anything about it to me and pics didnt show it on ebay, im assuming they stripped em out. and I bought carb studs so I was a little pissed. Coming along nicely though. Im going to need a new wiring harness for the Engine Sending units and starter stuff. I love this car

yeah i have always put them in without the tranny well on new cars that is..... i will have to try it on my car..i quess you learn new things everyday.....

I personally like helicoils. I think any tapped hole in aluminum or plastic should get a steel threaded insert of some kind. If I were manufacturing aluminum parts, I would install helicoils in every tapped hole - and brag about it in my advertising.

Anyway, I hope the threads are durable for you.

Looking good. I'm hoping to drop my engine in next week. I did label every nut & bolt in baggies, helps a LOT! Glad I did it.

Ahhhh good old memories staying up till 2:00AM dropping the engine in. Still haven't started it though HAHAHAHA. Dropping it in with the tranny is definitely much much easier. Tranny is held on with a crossmember and thats it, however to take it off the engine you have to align dowels and bolt up 6 bolts to get it on there it is a lot harder.

it was frustrating at first to bolt that tranny on, there was a half inch or so that it need to go further, it turned out that theres a shaft in the tranny that moves in and out and somehow it came out after about 15 minutes of sweat and cussing this was discovered
