I have a 96 Gt and I am going to eventually be looking to do something with my engine.
Choices,
1.) 03-04 Cobra engine:hail2: , How much should I pay for a used one? also how Much are they brand new without the supercharger? Is it a pretty direct fit or will there have to be some fabbing?

2.) 96-01 Cobra engine, How much should a used one cost? Also will it be a fairly simple swap?

3.)99-04 GT engine, How much should I pay for one of these or should I just do a PI swap?

4.) PI swap, how much would this cost? around $1k? What all do I have to get to do a full PI swap? How much horse power should I gain? 45?

My engine has 118k on it but it runs really strong. Im not sure exactly that it actually has that many miles because it has had 4.10's since I got it and im not sure how long they were on for. I believe like a year before I got it, but I have only put 2k on it in a year so im not sure what they put on it a year.

You can buy a built 03 Cobra motor with a big ol wipple on top pushing 750hp...

for 14 grand...

New stock 4v motors are pretty 'spensive. FRPP website has a catalog. Every motor Ford's got, including the 5.0 Cammer.

PI swapping will actually net you more hp than a bone stock 99-04 GT motor, as you'll wind up with a little higher compression ratio.

What are you looking to end up with? If you just want a small power upgrade, go ahead and do the PI swap if your engine seems fine now. If it seems like it could go soon, you could do a complete swap. Swapping to a 4v involves more than just taking out old and putting in new. VT Engines is a pretty popular company for aftermarket modular engines in a wide variety of styles and performance/price levels.

VT or a similar company is who you want to go to if you're looking to build up a big horsepower setup.

Not looking for anything too crazy. It's just a weekend cruiser that may see a little track use. Im leaning torward the PI swap. thanks for all the help.

F*** it ,do the KEWBRA swap,...go for the gold, I did it and love it, you will love the results, it may be more from the get go, but in the long run its well worth it...

Ebay may be a great place to look or your local salvage yard..

Heads
Cams
Intake.

There were a few links on ebay the other day selling the entire kits for not too bad of a price. The heads is what makes it expensive really

I picked up my new cams for $100 from a local member, can pick up a new intake for $175 or so, though heads are another story :)
