Hi guys,
This is John's wife and I just wanted to know if anyone else has had an engine problem with their '05 or '06. We JUST purchased this vehicle --'06 GT convertible on Sunday and I noticed the engine light was on today. I am taking the car in tomorrow and I'm SURE they will need to keep it over the weekend. I have not noticed the car acting up at all; just the light on solid, not blinking. Anyone else had this problem? I fear this could be a sign of things to come!

An 'event' will be logged in the computer that will tell the dealer what triggered it. Try not to worry, it is a good thing that the car has diagnostics.

A friend said that it could be an oxygen sensor and that it is probably not a big deal. I guess we'll see what Ford says tomorrow.

Good luck! Hope all turns out well. No problems with my '06, got about 850 miles on it now.

If you put gas in it with the engine running it will trigger the light. Topping off the gas tank can also trigger the light.

152 miles and already in the shop.
I have neither filled the tank with the engine running (who does that? isn't it dangerous?!) or topped off the tank. I haven't OWNED it long enough to require putting gas in! lol

By the way, the check engine light will come on if the car needs oil or an oil change. It could be something as simple as that.

A loose gas cap will also turn on the check engine light.
