We did replace the chains and guides, we just didn't upgrade the heads. And the cams were a custom ground from a shop with extensive cam experience, but he had never done 4.6 cams, much less blower cams. the way that the timing jumped, I figured that may have been the cause.

Forgive my ignorance if I'm wrong here, but wouldn't the marks on the chain and the sprocket not line up after starting the car after the initial timing has been done and only line up after "x" amount of revolutions?

The engine seized before the timing chain broke? Damn, those chains are tougher than I thought they were.

Well judging by piston 3 being TDC, it was revolution 48, and based on that, the timing was way jacked up!
Haha, jk...but seriously...i didn't know that the marks didn't stay lined up

---> I'm thinking that after we pull the heads to verify that our pistons are acceptable, we'll look into a trickflow TW heads and the whole shebang.
Any input on trickflow or any other recomendations?

Thats an interesting place for the roller followers to be cracked at... right in between the hydraulic lifter and the cam shaft. If the piston had hit the valve wouldn't the roller follower be cracked in a different location; like between the cam and valve stem?
