OK HERE IT GOES. I AM NEW TO THIS SITE BUT HAVE FOUND ALOT OF HELPFUL INFO. FOR MY MUSTANG HERE. BUT I HAVE A MAJOR PROBLEM. BOUGHT THIS MUSTANG IN FEB., LOVE IT. RAN FINE UNTIL I TOOK IT TO GET MY WHEELS PUT ON. OH, 19' OZ ANTERAS, BTW. ANYWAYS, JUST HAPPENS THAT MY CAR "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" COMES ON AS SOON AS I LEAVE THE PLACE. ALSO, JUST HAPPENS THAT 50% OF THE EMPLOYEES HAVE MUSTANGS. PLUS, WHEN I WAS CHANGING OUT MY SPARK PLUG AND WIRES I NOTICE THAT A PIECE OF MY HOSE IS MISSING THAT RUNS FROM MY INTAKE TO AIR FILTER HOUSING. ALSO IN FUSE BLOCK(ENGINE) THERE ARE LIKE 4 FUSES MISSING AND ONLY ONE RELAY. NOW I HAVE CLEANED THE MOTOR A FEW TIMES. I THINK I WOULD HAVE NOTICED ALL THE STUFF MISSING. SPECIALLY THE HOSE. ANYWAYS, FORGOT TO MENTION THE MOTOR. I HAVE A 95 MUSTANG LX W/ V6 SPLIT 3.8 & MANUAL TRANNY. IT'S SPUTTERING REALLY BAD LIKE IT'S CLOGGED UP SOMEWHERE. THAT'S WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE ANYWAYS. ALL THIS COME OUT OF THE BLUE. THE A/C WON'T COME ON AND I'VE HAD IT FILLED RECENTLY. ALSO RUNNING HOT. I BROUGHT IT UP TO AUTOZONE AND THE CODE READERS SAYS P0302 LIKE 4 TIMES. SO I STAYED UP ALL NIGHT CHANGED OUT THE PLUGS AND WIRES B/C THAT'S WHAT THE CODE SAID. CYLINDER 2 MISFIRE. WENT FOR A TEST DRIVE THIS MORNING AND IT'S STILL RUNNING LIKE CRAP IF NOT WORSE. WHEN YOU GIVE IT GAS, IT SOUNDS LIKE A HOOPTY AND WHEN GO TO SLOW DOWN AND STOP FEELS LIKE THE MOTOR IS JUST GOING TO BLOW, IT SHAKES REALLY BAD. ANY ADVICE WOULD BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. JUST SOOOO FRUSTRATING. <---- THAT'S WHAT I FEEL LIKE ABOUT NOW. GWEN.

Reconnect the hose, and figure out which fuses are missing.

Already did that.

That was the first thing i did. Sorry, forgot to put that in there. I still have some relays to put in, anyone have the fuse block layout? Like what supposed to go to what fuse? It's for a 95 mustang lx. v6 split 3.8. I really must get her back up and running asap. This is my everyday vehic. Thanks for the quick response. What about the coil pack itself? Think that could be causing the prob?

MAF or O2 sensor?

My mom has a Bonneville that kinda did the same thing. I beleive it was her MAF sensor. Possibly mine? Gwen

As far as the fuses go, isn't there a diagram on the inside of the fuse box cover?

Disconnect the battery for 30 minures, then get it up to 55mph+ for five minutes and see if it still throws the same code.

Coil pack could be bad as well, but it's better to start eliminating the possibilities before just replacing everything.

You could even have bad gas, who knows?

I would pull the plug for that cylinder thats misfiring and check it out. See if its normal or wet. If it's running hot it could be a blown head gasket dropping a lil water in the cylinder causing it to misfire or could be what my prob was.

had the same prob with my 94. Ended up being my Computer being bad. Misfire was caused by injector recieving a constant signal from the brain and constantly dumping fuel. Got a new brain from the boneyard(unit had more miles on it than my car) and everything was fine for about 8 monthes then low and behold same thing. This time i went and bought a reman'd brain from autozone and all has been well since.

btw I have also replaced my head gaskets due to a failure and had none of the typical blown gasket syptoms other than every blue moon the temp would just rise like crazy stay there for awhile then drop...also my AC or Heater wouldnt work during those times. Replaced both gaskets and all has been well..

If you're missing the hose that runs from the air box to your throttle body, you're car is running without a MAF, PCV sensor, and another sensor which I believe is the IAC. I bet getting some rubber bewtween the two will solve alot of problems, if not all. Then focus on that Cylinder 2 misfire.

Hey Thanx for the advice all!! LOTS OF STUFF HERE!!

Well I finally got it!! I changed the spark plugs, wires, oil, coilpack, belt, hoses, relays, etc. Just went ahead fixed it all and it runs better than EVER. No bs. It was my coil pack after all. But doing everything myself was a ******!! I would have it all fixed, go for a test ride and if I got on it, I would loose a cylinder. I was getting so pissed. This is the 3rd day under the hood. So, I finally found out what the problem was. When I installed the new coil pack, the rubber orange band for the connector/adapter was wedged up in the connector. So with both orange bands on it was backing out and would cause it to run like crap. But it sounds and runs soo much better!! Thanks for all the comments they really helped narrow it down. Was kinda glad though after I had fixed it. I must have read the Mustang repair guide at least 15 times front to back. So I learned alot about my car and next time I'll know what to do incase something like that happens again. I wanted to take the engine out and bring it in and clean it but I guess I'll wait. Just bought another project car yesterday. Got a 1979 Chevy Camaro with a 307(305 w/ heads bored over). Check out the pic. On my way to have the tint done. Hope you like the new pics below.
