I purchased a new set of MSD Super Conducter wires for my 3.8. Prior to installation, I had no problems with the ignition. After installation, the engine would stutter and stumble under mild acceleration, I would get a check engine light. Using my Actron Code Scanner, I pulled up a "P0340 engine malfunction, bank 1, camshaft postion sensor". Well, after numerous attempts to correct the problem, I'm perplexed. When I re-install the OEM plug wires, the engine runs fine. I've replaced the Camshaft Position Sensor, the Crank Position Sensor, installed a new coil pack, cleaned and inspected everything I can find. Of course, the Ford Service Manual does not cover this problem. Mods: Steeda Under Drive Pulley kit, MAC CAI, Granatelli Motorsports 150 GPH Fuel Pump, Optima Red Top battery. I have 24 years experience as a Navy Aircraft Technician, 30 years playing with cars and I can't help but think I am missing something really obvious. Does anybody have any ideas, suggestions. OBTW, MSD replaced my plug wires twice, they have been very generous. MSD had no suggestions for me.

Are you putting the wires on the correct order.

They are not 1;1 but the bottom two are swapped and are auctually 6 in the middle then 5 on the end.

I had the exact same problem on my 97. I tried a million different solutions to find the ONLY solution was to use the stock wires. I tried 3 brands of aftermarket wires, new cam sensors, a different coil pack and none would solve the problem.

I believe it's from RF's coming off the wires effecting the cam sensor.

I was thinking the same thing as far as RF leakage goes. I don't know if there are any better shielded wires out there as I haven't really looked into them much at this stage of the game.
