Engine Swap?

I have a basicly stock 97 GT and a friend of mine has told me that I would be better of just swaping my engine to a 351. Is the stock 97 GT slower than the 99+ ones or not? and I have a budget of about 5 thousand so give me suggestions if you disagree with the motor swap.

97 gts are slower than the 99+ gts. Get a 96-98 4v and drop it in. You can also go with the Mach1 motor it is pretty cheap. You can get everything done for 5000. This is assuming you will do your own work.

Personally i would do the motor swap instead of building up that 2v. I have a 99 4v in my 96 GT and i love it.

I have seen 40 K mile used 99 and newer engines sell from 900 to 1500 bucks , that would be my suggestion and then go from there . NOS or supercharger would be a good performer with that combo

Just get do a PI headswap. You will be above a stock 99+ car for a helluva lot cheaper than swapping a 351 or a 4V motor.

A mach one is a 4V engine. do a search here and www.modulardepot.com and you will get most of the info you need.
