I really wanna get some forced induction for my ride, but I have no clue how much my stock engine can handle. Can my limit be increased by simply swapping pistons and cams, or am I looking at having to modify my block. Any and all comments are helpful.
Thanks,
Cody

If you are looking at a "typical" FI package, most of them are set-up to work on a stock motor. It's only when you start playing around with the race only set-ups that you get into HP levels that require replacing crank/rods/pistons. The block itself is pretty stout and can handle lots of HP assuming the rotating assembly is upgraded.

So your saying until I start swapping pulleys to up the boost, I should be ok. What kinda numbers can I put out before having to modify the internals?

People have been quoting around 450 or so. Some have pushed to 500 before it gave out. I would definitely not try to push 500 unless you have some $$$ to beef it up.

And don't ask me what I am at right now .

This is a loaded question.....
Are you planning on hitting the track weekly and banging gears on a regular basis or a daily driver with a light to light race a couple of times a year?
If your going to race it hard every chance you get, I don't think a stock motor (300hp ) will put up with the abuse very long, never mind adding big horses.
So figure out what kind of reliabilty your confortable with and base your hp. around this.
Research what a Roush or a Saleen car has had done from the factory stangs. Example... Upgraded power train, axels, engine, transmission, clutch, etc... This would give you a good basis as to how much money it can cost for reliabilty!
I'm sure if your a daily driver and want another 100-150 hp. and don't abuse the car often, it would hold up pretty good. IMO

I want to retain the street friendly aspect of my daily driver. So the answer to your question is, I will not be hitting the track very often, if at all. I will do the occasional streetlight drag but thats about it. My main goal is to crack the Five's in terms of power. I know that once my warranty is done, my car will be getting new parts every weekend. I just want to prepare for that and have the knowledge of what parts I should go for first. Thanks for your opinions, I will definitely consider all of these.

One suggesting I have is to plan your upgrades wisely. Some upgrades will make others obsolete. For example, if you were to get a complete Saleen Blower kit, and already have a CAI and Upper pulleys, they become useless as the kit replaces them.

At least you can still go to the track. Ah well.

Also depends on what type of FI you go with, a turbo can and does produce alot of engine heat that can shorten the life of a motor compared to a SC. however a turbo is capable of big hp and torque numbers. Proper tunning is all so important either way.
