Engine Weight

I was looking at putting a 4.6 DOHC motor in my foxbody coupe until I saw the weight if its true. I know they are more costly to build but, I thought it would be cool. Scroll down and look at the weight of these engines. It states that a 32v 4.6 weighs more then a 5.0.

Why would it be lighter? Because when using the aluminum block? There's a whole lot more heavy parts on a DOHC V8 than a single cam OHV V8.

I guess I just always figured a 4.6 to be lighter but, I guess not.

It still makes for a bad ass swap. An extra 100 +/- lb's is significant, but wouldn't be enough to stop me from doing the swap.

Tubular k-member and a-arms with a battery recolation to the trunk would even the weight dist. out a bit.
