hey all, this is the day 2 or 3 continuation of my previous thread, which ive asked the mods to delete. Anyways, my brother has a 97 lincoln mark viii and it just threw a p 0308 code - #8 cyl misfiring. It shakes pretty good at idle and smooths out a little bit once over 2000 rpm, and obviously is down a bit on power. Just wondering if theres anything OTHER THAN plug / coil / wire / injector to look at.

TIA

You do realize that this is the SVT portion of a Mustang website, right? Not sure if there are a lot of people around here with experience on the Lincolns...

U.M.

It has the 96-98 cobra engine with just a different crank and different cams. Im assuming the error codes are the same for these as they are for the cobras, and regardless, my question is what would you look for if a 96-98 cobra gave the same error code. Not a big deal. its not like im asking for a wiring diagram for the heated seat. im talking about the same motor that almost everyone on this forum has...

right you are, which is why i made a new post, under the assumption that 'error code p0308' would get more attention.

And yes, though there are minor differences, the 92 or 93 to 98 lincoln mark viii's basically have the 96-98 mustang cobra 4v 4.6 in em. The lincolns actually had em first.

sorry for the misunderstanding

I had the same problem with my '98. One day it was fine, the next day the check engine light came on and the idle became rough enough to shake the car. I replaced the plug wires and that solved it. Searched the forums for days looking for a similar problem with no avail. Hope it helps...
