Rebuilding my '69 351w from the parts listed below. Please let me know what you guys think this engine will make in terms of HP and torque at the flywheel. I appreciate everyones help on my past posts to put these parts together. If anyone sees areas that need improvement or overkill, please let me know. Thanks.

'69 351w block bored .030 over
stock stroked crankshaft (3.50 inches)
AFR 185 Cylinder Heads
Speed Pro Forged .030 pistons 9.5:1 compression
Scat 4340 Forged Steel H-Beam Rods
Edelbrock Performer RPM (Ports matched to heads)
Street Demon 750 (mechanical secondaries)
140 gph Electric Fuel Pump
Shaker Ram Air (aftermarket 100% ambient air)
Melling standard volume oil pump
1 5/8 Hedman Ceramic coated shorty headers (1 3/4 ????)
Electric Fan (don't know which one I will use)
March under-drive pulley set
MSD Pro Billet Distributor
CompCams camshaft 35-000-8RF (roller retrofit)
duration @ .050" = 224/232
valve lift w/ 1.6 rocker = .555/.565
Lobe sep. angle = 110
(I need to find out valve overlap???)

off the top of my head, i would say something on the order of 450-475 at the flywheel.

450 is a good number, the 9.5:1 is holding you back a bit. I am using the same CR for using pump gas.

with the aluminum heads and that cam i'd say go 10:1 on the compression, beleive it or not you'll actually get slightly better mileage too, i know you're not really looking for mileage, though

I will be installing the engine in a '70 Mach. I will use a G-Force T-5 tranny with 3.89 gears and 36.5" tall rear tires. I want a street car and will ocassionally drive it on the freeway. I want a serious engine with good HP and torque but want to be able to drive it without having to worry if it will be half way reliable. This is my first engine rebuild so I am not sure what to expect. CompCams thought the cam listed with the other parts that I will be using will make my goal of 425 to 450 HP. Should I change intakes or carbs? Should I step up to 1 3/4 headers? Shorties or long tubes? Should I increase compression to 10.0:1. Thanks for the help.

More realistic HP numbers would be 380 to 425. I have the same combo except for World heads, Weind stealth & 750 cfm & the builder dyno sheet was 420 hp @ 5800.

i think the cam you picked will be fine for your goals, i would also go with 10:1 compression. otherwise it sounds like you have a pretty sound combo there

good combo of parts solid roller makes more power but then you have to adjust every so often get good rockers high 3s to low 4s on the hp sounds right

hey a bit OT but heres something you should probably know. I was reading online earlier this week about g force transmissions. Turns out on more than one situation, some guys have broke their gforce trannys and then gforce basically told them to f themselves, wouldn't give any support to them. Its ironic because in one specific incident, a guy ran a stock t5 for a good while, then decided to swap in the gforce. Within the first couple runs it craps out on him. I can dig up the link if you would like to read about it. Just a heads up for you, hate for ya to spend all that $$ on a tranny then get screwed over.

oh and i'd say 425hp witha good tune.

Looks like your initial choice of the roller retrofit is a good one. Just be advised that it will change your firing order to the same as the 289/302, not the 351w.

I'm sure its in the instructions someplace, but I missed it and spent a couple of days scratching my head, using lots of 4-letter words, and burning spots on my ceiling, while figuring that one out!

Definitely go with the 1 3/4 headers. ANd as far as the transmission goes... the only times I can think a Gforce T5 would be better than a Tremec TKO is when you'd have to cut up the car to get the TKO in (like on a 65-66). I believe you can cram a TKO into a 70 without cutting, so I'd go that route. It might be cheaper too, and would probably be stronger.

Your setup is much like mine on my convertible 69 Cougar. 351 W 10/1 750 Holley DP with 2.73 gears made 467 HP. Problem was the FMX tranny I had.
I would also suggest you forget the underdrive system.
