I just got my Mac X and cat-backs. The headers are on back-order. I put the cat-backs on and it sounds damn good. I'm going to wait for the headers to put the X pipe in. Anyone ever get hassled by the law?

We don't have inspections here. I was just worried the cops would say they made too much noise.

I've never had a problem in years of driving cars and trucks with no cats and performance mufflers. Attitude is a big part of it -- if you drive normally you probably won't have a problem. It's when you start goofing off that it becomes an excuse to pull you over and hassle you.

Drive real peaceful, let some cars in ahead of you, let people turn at the light, let the old lady cross the street, drive a bit slower than you could, get into the habit. Chances are, you'll let an old lady cross the street at an intersection where a 5-0 is creepin in the bushes and he'll see that and you're off the hook. Chances are he will remember that when he sees you next week as well. Meanwhile, if you're blasting gangsta rap with your hat to the back, speeding through the center of town revving the engine at chicks and making pedestrians jump back, he'll find an excuse and loud exhaust is as good as any.

Think about it that way.

BTW, wide open exhaust is only loud if the engine is under load. My offroad is rather quiet when feathering the pedal.

BTW#2 If I can get away with it in massachussetts then you can get away with it anywhere.

I don't think that Johnny Law cares too much for noisey cars that look good. I prefer to think that Johnny Law is more on the look out for Hooptiees with no mufflers / Huge A$$ stereo / Rims worth more than the car. But that is just my opinion and it could be influinced my my location.

never had a problem with the sound of any of my cars.

my last project was an 85 T/A with a 400sbc, hooker mid lengths, and a single straight pipe out the back door. it was plenty loud. but it had so much low end grunt I could cruse around town barely touching the throttle so unless you were really close you wouldn't think it was that loud. I just made sure the po-po was nowhere around when I hit it :nice:

Thats some good advice, because it doesnt hurt to be nice most of the time, just make sure the cops arent around when you drop the hammer. As a matter of fact, I had a sheriff follow me a few blocks today, but he didnt pull me over... Phew, I hate tickets!

That doesn't sound like much fun! :D

loud exhuast

bbk long tube headers 1 5/8" primaries , 3" collectors, 2 1/2" exhuast , mac off road x pipe and mac mufflers with dumps cut off and turndowns before axle, its decently quiet cruising at normal rpm , but when you nail it , heads definately turn, even more fun to be on the side of someone who is driving like **** and nail it, it scares the hell out of them. I have no cats and in texas cops are *******s, just have to make sure you have the hook up on inspection, other than that, you have to worry about cops being around b/c they will pull you over for anything here. Loudness also depends on the extremeness of the cam you are running, i run an e303 w/ 1.6 rockers and its plenty loud enough, one of the loudest cars around.

definately depends on the car I guess because my GT is loud w/ an off-road bbk h pipe and flowmasters, but it also has a b303 cam...the other day it was idling about 30 ft from the house and you could hear the car in the house w/ the doors shut like in the middle of the house...you can definately hear it while crusing; I like it and no trouble, but I'm probably more careful in it than my other stuff because I know it's loud and if I get pulled over in it, I could get a few tickets.

I did but I got a Blower with 2 chambers but I beat it in court do to the fact that my state like most are not yet in corrispondance with federal law stating that a state must have testing stations to actually verify that you are in violation of the noice pollution act.
