im hoping i can fool the cops with my new prochamber, "that square thing is the high flow cats officer" but PA is a bitch about emissions unless you drive it under 5000 like i do, i think i got about 1700 miles on it from last inspection in june cause gas is out of control.

My car is pretty loud I guess...it gets quite a bit of noise attention from pedestrains and cops. A few weeks back I got pulled over and when I did he told me that I got his attention by revving my exhaust (in reality alls I did was downshift around a curve (20mph) with no more than 2200rpm) so he comes flying up on me to pull me over and then after he told me about "revving my pipes" he says my car matched the description of a local shooting He knew good and well it wasn't me (I don't cause trouble) and he knows where I was working that night... They will constantly stare at me or follow me around late at night because of the exhaust.

I have woke up my neighbor (he actually came and told me) when he lives about 200-300 yards from my house on a hill. He says he has overslept a couple times and I helped save his job He said I was just starting it up and not revving it So I guess it is pretty loud???? I have never let anyone drive my car to see how loud is loud...it isn't loud to me though...

The _true_ test of a good exhuast system is....

visit the local college parking lot/ricer hangout where the ghastly machines are parked and drive through the lot. When you pass one, let it rip.

If you set off his car alarm, you're gold =)

Otherwise, time to upgrade.

I drove through umass's purple lot and left a whole row of chopped primered triple wiper batman wing bondomobiles blinking and honking away. It was one of those bonding moments with my car.

Depends on the sensitivity setting of the alarm system...and just as well you can have a "loud" car but it may not sound good...(aka...glasspacks )...

I judge mine by the compliments I get

My car is loud as hell. I have BBK longtubes, BBK o/r X-pipe, and 3" flowies. I get compliments allllllll the time on it but I am constantly getting noise violations from the cops. As far as emissions go, that's my little secret .

I have an offroad H-Pipe and Flowmasters with Dumps. My car will set off car alarms idleing by! When ever I drive down a side street at least one or two car alarms go off. I have never had any trouble though. I was followed once last year late at night through a quiet sub-division. Luckly my buddy lived there and I pulled into his driveway and the cop kept on going. I always wake up my neighbor with it also!

My Mac setup is pretty quiet when not under load, but is a little loud when taking off from a stop, even when going as slow as possible. I've left a few red lights with cops right behind me and not had any problems yet, knock on wood. I even had a Sheriff follow right behind me across three freeway lane changes, an off ramp and two stop lights the other night. He was definately waiting for a reason to pull me over, but since I drove slowly and gently he eventually gave up. I think most police will give you a little leeway on a loudish exhaust if they can see you're driving carefully and not trying to make excess noise. Give them a good reason and they will pull you over though.

flowtech long tubes, x-pipe, terminator mufflers, and tailpipes, mall parking garage. The noise becomes contagious (people's alarms). I used to set my brothers car alarm off every morning, so he started parking down the street.

My setups loud, but not real loud. I definetly don't try to keep it quiet, except driving it to church either. My grandpa does here me start it up, and on late days, hears me hit 2nd gear winding on it pretty good. Where ym car is parked is 50 yards downhill from the back porch of his house, and he's inside. Where the road is where he hears me hit 2nd is 150-200 yards. I love it too.

In California state it is certainly an issue in the cities, i always thought it was an urban myth but just two weeks ago my buddy got a 1500$ (OUCH!! ) fine for not having cats on his mustang, i dont have cats and my car is ridiculously loud, and i haven't had any problems yet, i painted my OR X pipe black also so you cant easily see it when i drive by, buy the cop here had a mirror on a wand and he stuck it under the car and my buddies OR H pipe was black also and he could see there was no cats on it so out comes the ticket book, in LA in southern california they are real serious about it also, all the racers have welded on the stock shields to make it look like thy have cats cause they will CERTAINLY give you a ticket that is hefty!!! :damnit: :damnit: :damnit:

by the way, shut your car off when the cop pulls you over, otherwise he can smell the gas when you dont have cats and hear your car, if he asks why your car is shut off just tell him your trying to make his job easier so he doesn't think your trying to run off at any time!! i got pulled over and did this and he just checked my reg (i was speeding 10 mph over onthe freeway late at night) and let me go

LMFAO, Crazypete. I gotta go to more parking lots.

I used to think my stang was loud and I needed quieter mufflers, but I have never been bothered by the cops about it. We bought a Mercury Bobcat wagon off a member here and its loud as ****. Sets off alarms real nice, LT's, 3" pipe, 1 Chambers and dumps. I have been driving it in town almost daily and have not drawn any police attention as far as I have noticed. Its all in how you drive for the most part, but where you live matters alot too.
