Well hell, a power adder would make even a stock intake look good power wise.

But I do agree with your stock cam statement. Keep them matched.

thanks for all you guys' numbers etc.....i think i am gonna go with the cobra and just keep it......and send it out.... to be opened up

it should make decent power......i think after the intake swap etc....i willl prolly be going to a custom cam in about 6 months.......then maybe i can get the car to make close to 300 290ish would be great......

Nothing ported or matched, stock 95 cobra topend (even the TB), E-cam, plus the Vorturd made 476/468 leaning out to 12.1:1 A/F @5900rpms 2 weeks ago.

Someday I'll do a better cam and heads, but I will be keeping the intake, might open it up and shorten the runners on the upper though.

Jason...FWIW
I lost 13lbs TQ going from the lower your running to the Cobra....I was W.T.F...wasn't expecting that....i gained like 10 HP, lost 13 TQ according to the dyno...I was 311 to 298 on TQ..
Evidently the ported E7s like only so much air???.... I would say your gonna need a cam to make up the difference if your just swap the Cobra on...Just the intake swap alone and you may no be all that thrilled with the results...

Here is an Excel spreadsheet of the two dyno comparisons - better info than just looking at peak numbers..........

Tom when you port this thing you are gonna port it to the size of a 1250 gasket right? it doesn't require any welding of the runners etc.......

do you have pics of a lower that has been ported, and will i have to port the upper any at all....

I assume your talking about a GT40 style lower since you are already running my ported stock lower intake (right?). When I port a lower intake, I port the lower intake flange to the head that is to be used on the engine. AFR heads have a bias to one side of the stock lower intake flange opening that has to be taken into consideration. Other head manufacturers have runners that align more directly with the stock Ford intake runners. In any case, they do wind up being close to or at the 1.2"x2.0" dimension of the 1250 gasket size. Most of the flow improvements from my porting do not rely heavily on the lower intake head flange opening size. Most of the gains come from runner work further up in the runner. What I try to do is to keep the lower intake runner opening at the head flange as close to the size of the head runner as possible. I normally leave a few thousandths less in the intake runner to allow for machine tolerances and alignment if I don't have the exact heads that will be used to make a porting template from. It's better for the intake runner to be slightly smaller than the head than it is to have some of the head surface present itself to the intake runner.

The lower is sufficient for most heads that work well on a 302 at less than 6,250 rpm.

here is my dyno sheet- My Dynosheet

I run 24# injectors with 13 degrees timing. Im getting a tweecer for xmas probably so i might pm you with some questions.

Pretty good looking pull

I've got some questions & thoughts about it

Looked like the power is done by about 5500. I'm thinking the cam would more likely be the reason as opposed to the rpm intake. How high is that 2031 cam supposed to make power at?

The Tweecer will help you keep a flatter af ratio. No doubt that if you could have stayed closer to 12.75 to 13.00 you would have busted the 300 mark.

You will also pick up a good bit of power when you can tweec your spark curve to just what your combo likes.

Again good job and more power yet with a tweec or two

Tom, that dyno sheet is depressing me. I think I may just sell my Cobra intake, crane 1.7rr and just stay stock. I don't think it will be worth my time and trouble to swap this stuff out.
