The low end is about the same as before the headswap, but after 3000rpm there's no comparison. Where it is really noticable is cruising at 60mph on the highway and then downshifting to 3rd and romping on it [Wheeee!!!!] Doing the same with the non-Pi would result in nothing other than the engine making a big "roar" and the speedo would climb as fast as a one-legged sloth.
Getting the tune after the swap made a slight difference in the upper rpms, but not alot. 1/4 mile times dropped just a smidge over a tenth of a second and 1mph after the tune.
Welcome to the PI world!! :nice:

Night and day differance after the headswap. After the swap and LT headers I droped a complete second off my 1/4 mile time but thats with ported heads and custom grind cams. As for plugs, I use NGK TR-6.

All the mods in your sig is what I plan on doing to mine within the next year :nice: :nice:

Do you know what kind of HP you are putting out right now with your set up

Like Canada said in the higher rpm's it is much much much more fun now. Before PI headswap I dynoed at 212 rwhp, which is really high I think considering I only have a few bolt-ons. After headswap I dynoed at 243 rwhp. Both times I dynoed at 284 rwtq but my torque curved moved up after the PI headswap. As far as 1/4 times my best so far is a 14.117 @ 101 with a 2.3 60' so I cant complain because once I drop the 60' I should be good for some mid 13 second time slips. You can see my dyno graphs on my cardomain page.

Its really a whole different animal after the swap I think. It used to before just make a loud roar and pull to maybe 4500 or so then die off, now it just keeps pulling and pulling up until redline. I used to average 15.2@89 in the 1/4 before and now I run 13.8's@102-103. Both were with 2.1 60 ft. times. So I think I gained roughly 100 hp at the motor. For me I definitely needed a tune, mine wouldnt idle at all and it would miss from 3500-up due to a lean condition and the wrong spark plugs. I got my kit from Parkway Ford, and the plugs that came with it didnt work, I tried some Autolites after and they didnt help. It turned out the plugs werent threaded all the way to the seat and they were sitting too far up in the head. Got some NGK TR6's and the miss went away. The tuner was scratching his head because he kept adding fuel and adding fuel but the miss was still there. Let us know how yours turns out and welcome to the headswap club.

on the right.

charles, if you want to save money and keep buying 87 gas you can also swap PI intake and cams on your current heads. YES you will leave some HP on the table but if your car is a daily driver, like mine it's at least an option to look into.

Yipes!! What the heck did you do to that thing to inable it to run those times?
Ported non-pi heads, 75 shot, cams and gears, slicks? Very impressive!!
My posted 1/4 miles are from running at the local track here [3280ft], the corrected times are much more impressive[ but 60 ft times are in the 2.2's, not impressive :( ] but I like to just post the actual times, as that's what's on my time slips, but even corrected, I'm still not in the 13.3's, although my mph is pretty good.

Hey Canada, you got gears in that thing yet? Try downshifting to 3rd at 60MPH with 4.10's! It puts you about 4,500 RPMs. Now that's wheeee!!!

Naw, no gears. I use the Stang for mostly highway driving so I just kept the stockers[3.27's]. 4.10's would sure be nice though. If I ever find myself cruising down the highway in your neck of the woods and I come up behind a Stang that looks like yours, I think I'll either just follow behind till you turn off or slowly putter by and pretend that I'm adjusting the radio or something, so you don't blow my doors off :D
How do you like the SCT tune?

4.10's are good to about 105MPH then you have to shift to 5th and it's like running into a wall of pillows. I don't go that fast too often, so the low-end acceleration is fun and worth it.

SCT = I installed it last Friday and the car runs much smoother and feels faster, then yesterday I got it dyno'd and I'm not happy with the numbers, but it's only numbers. Peak to peak, the custom tune was down about 1-2 HP on the stock tune, but I picked up about 15TQ and 8HP between 2500 and 4000 RPMs. I'm taking a trip to Kauffmans Motorsports in July and they will strap it on their dyno and get it PERFECT.

I'd like to take it to the drag strip, but I know I'll drive it like I borrowed it from someone else and I'll break the clutch and transmission and axles and who knows what else. :rlaugh:

I'm thinking 15 ft tq and 8Hp in the midrange is a pretty good trade off for 1-2 up top, so that's pretty good :nice:
That beast of yours must really rip, you should be posting some pretty good times with a 1/2 decent 60ft. :nice:

I used to race mountain bikes and I joked and told people that they had bad motors. Now, I got a good motor and I'm certain a bad driver. Or, at least, one that needs a lot of practice.

I agree with CanadaStang, until I got over 3000 rpm, I felt like I had just wasted over $1000 bucks and an assload of my time. However, once you take it over 3000 rpm, you will be glad you did the swap. Feels totally different now.
