This is it for right now, I am working on more. What sucks is that I might have to add other components to race at a track when I get it togeather, plus the motor is going to weigh more.

-add- I took my fenders off recently, they don't weight that much, and I have heard of those who have gotten the fiberglass one's not being too satisfied with the weight savings. I wonder how fiberglass doors would compare to the metal doors if the crash support was removed from the metal door. The Hatch and glass carry some weight, and the stock hood is a heavy mofo. Get a fiberglass with speedglass and drop some real weight. I have a fiberglass cowl now, don't know if the new motor is going to fit, so I might get another one and this time a lift off.

Stangboy - you didn't tell us how much yours weighs.....or I missed it. Better specify how full the tank is -- can be as much as a 100 lb. swing depending on how much fuel is being carried.

Mine weighs 3010 lb. with less than 1/8th tank of fuel -- with a/c, power steering, full carpet, spare tire/jack/tools, floor mats, etc. I've got aluminum heads, and I did re-create the bumpers in fiberglass which knocked off about 50 lbs.

Mine has had very little in the way of weight reduction ie: rear dampner, carpet padding, quad shocks and brackets and aluminum LCAs. I weighed it about a month ago on a certified scale and it came in at 3160 with a full tank of gas. I do intend to remove some more things but you guys are a little looney in the head for removing safety items like front bumpers and door beams especially if the car is driven on the street.

Coming for me is the rear seat and belt delete, lighter wheels, battery relocation, fiberglass hood, full insulation removal. Race day will also feature spare tire and jack removal along with the front anti-sway bar.

I'm thinking with a quarter tank of fuel I should be under 3,000 pounds.

Im curious about mine now, gotta find a scale!! A full tank of gas wieghs just over a 100lbs.! So having a 1/4 tank would lower yours below 3100 :nice:

I also have some engine goodies to go with everything else. I have a 70mm MAF from a '94 GT, a 65mm Explorer TB, a Extrude Honed upper and a new Ford lower that I'm sending out to be ported in the Spring. I'm shooting for the 12s without removing a valve cover, timing chain cover and no NOS.

Most of the guys that are getting serious with the wieght reductions are going fast enough were there gonna need a roll bar with driver side door bar at a minimum.

Heres a quick refreance chart for the NHRA rules, whitch most tracks go by,IHRA is actualy more stricked as far as the rules.
