Hey guys, i have a 93 AOD coupe. I really am thinking about converting it to a t56. My friend has one he will sell me out of an 03 cobra, but its electric speedo... i was thinking about getting a kit from D&D and i just called them and they said there kits are only to go from a t5 to a t56. what all do i need to do the swap? thanks a lot!

The tranny from the '03-'04 Cobras will no work. Different bell housing, input shaft lengths, drive shaft yoke, etc. FMS sells one that is a direct bolt in for a Fox. With a bellhousing from Summit it is just under $2100 plus freight ($80). Then all you need is the proper off balance on the flywheel (50oz if the motor is stock), a good clutch, a different starter (I think), a different cross member, shorten the driveshaft, put some fluid in it, and cap it off with your favorite T56 specific shifter (Tri-Ax or MGW). Oh, I guess you will need a clutch pedal assembly, too.

THANKS! do you need a wiring harness? i called D&D and they said you need some sort of wiring harness?

You would need a wiring harness that connects to the neutral selector switch and backup lights. The neutral selector switch harness is needed to get the computer to dump the engine running codes and do the engine running tests. The backup light part of the harness works the backup lights. Check with D&D and they may have or know of any adapter harness between the T5 and T56. It may be that the T5 harness is a direct fit and you don't need anything else.
