I was just thinking that. Sequence of events:

My Mac H pipe did the same,i took the stock studs out as it was bottoming out on the stops of the studs,then i put bolts instead,solved the issue.

the problem is the stock studs. they have a 'shoulder' on them that prevents a tight seal. buy the stud kit or use a nut and bolt

That would work if there wasn't a shoulder on the stud,which is the main reason for the exhaust leak issue.

it's not helping because there is nothing that I can suggest that would build upon anything previously stated. Your "don't listen to anything" comment just didn't sit well with me, but whatever it's the internet and life goes on

I fixed mine by taking off the driver side section of my 2pc. then used a Dremmel with a tungstin carbide bit to take some metal off of the flange where it touched the dowels.

I didnt take alot off, and i just made my cut at a 45 degree angle so the dowel could get into the flange a little.

this is the problem i have found im just not sure how to fix it exactly but im not getting the tight fit like i need

Well i used a dremel with a tungsten carbide bit and took a little metal off of the flange that faces the manifold. that way it would snug up tighter. i had the same prob. it was super tight but there ws still a leak. before i mean. after i dremled it there was not a patter

my piep didnt leak when i bought my car, but after putting it on the lift at work (lift touches the midpipe a little) i have a BAD exhasut leak. and ford has a part for the drivers side collector gasket for my 02?
i tried tightening down the bolts but it didnt get any better. ill have to take another look - but the gasket costs me like, $7 unless they messed up looking up the part

Mine is still leaking, I put washers on the bottom of the stud, between the two bolts holding the drivers side pipe to the manifold. It didnt get any better.

I may get some more washers and try again, its not hard to do... just annoying it wont go away.
