Exaust smells wrong. slight oil burning smell

okay the other day I noticed a slight oder of what I though was oil burning. kind of like oil dripping on the exhaust but more slight.

Now I have inspected it visually and it is only when the car is running so it is coming from the exhaust. it is not oil dripping anywhere.

car has 60k and does not smoke blue at all or use enough oil to make me thing it has anything to do with the rings at all.

the only thing that comes to mind hear to me is pcv valve possibly?

anyone else have any input for me or experinces like this?

So no blue smoke, no abnormal oil consumption, and no oil dripping.

Sounds like the pcv to me. I'd also consider installing an oil separator. Maybe use a thicker oil next time?

Yeah I think I may just try the oil separator since it is fairly cheap to do. see how that goes. if it solves it great if not keep poking around.

I just wanted to post in and see if I was being stupid and missing something obvious or something specific to a 4.6 engine as this is my first modular motor.

Well I changed my pvc, oil, plugs, and added the inline air to oil separator in the pvc. seems like the smell is still there. Maybe the car is just running rich or something. either that or I have oil up in the intake that needs to burn through.

thinking about buying a xcal 2 with the wideband o2 option. I will like to be able to look at my air fuel right now.
