Hello all, It has been some time since I have logged on or had time to work on my 78 KC. I installed a 351W with headers. The headers I bought are headmans made for a 302. I cut them and extended the tubiing to make it fit the 351W heads.

Here is my dilemma, It all fits but the exhaust sits too low and sometimes scrapes the pavement. Does anyone know of a brand header that I can purchase that will bolt in without modifications?

I really dont want to increase ride hight to make them work.

Any suggestions or ideas besides removing and re-cuttining them up?

It looks like the bottom of the collector pipe where the flange is is that part that is rubbing and making that wonderful noise when I hit a bump. I did change the crossmember on the drivers side to include a "loop" to allow that side header to come up more. The pass side is where it is rubbing and it appears that their is nothing I can do to the member to make more room.

Have you heard of anyone cutting up the floor pan to make room for the headers?

It sure would be nice if somebody made a bolt in header to fit this application but I uderstand it is unique to say the least.

I'm running Hooker 6120's with the car lowered about an inch and have never had clearance problems. I'm not hitting the speed bumps at speed and generally avoid pot holes.

I did manage to rub the unibody one time on a hill climb, but had the exhaust tucked up nicely and missed it completely.

Do you have any images??
