I posted in your other thread......honestly the best way to get a mean sounding car is to have more displacement. Flowmaster super 44's sound good though or SLP's if you are just looking for loud.

Put a set of Tailpipes on those mufflers and it will sound very very good. MAC is my favorite, match them to an x pipe and the sound is pure sex.

It all comes down to personal preference. Asking what is "best" is the same as asking what's the "best" paint color or the "best" shift knob or whatever else - everyone has their own take on this, and it's not something you can really measure with numbers. You could ask what's the LOUDEST or QUIETEST exhaust and that would be something you could get some concrete figures on. Otherwise, all I can suggest is get a list of potential exhaust setups or cat-backs that sound appealing to you, look up a bunch of exhaust clips on YouTube and similar sites, and see what sounds best to ya'.

Bear in mind that the type (not so much the brand) of headers and mid-pipe that's ahead of ANY muffler will DRAMATICALLY affect the sound, as well as whether or not tailpipes are present. Not having tailpipes will tend to make things louder and more prone to interior resonance (drone) at cruise. Side-exits will usually be louder than rear-exits (due to less pipe length and proximity to driver/passenger). Not having catalytic converters (off-road X-pipe or H-pipe) in place ahead of the mufflers will make the exhaust significantly louder, and will also drastically affect the tone. X-pipes tend to be more raspy; H-pipes tend to have more "burble" and growl. etc. etc. etc.

I know you already got something but figured I would chime in. I would vote for Magnaflow (which is what I have). They post good dyno numbers and sound pretty good IMO.

Not the best video but here it is. YouTube - Untitled 0002 .

I wasn't trying to spin but my old trac-loc was gone and has been replaced.

Here are some dyno numbers from a healthy 5.0.

MUFFLER SHOOTOUT:

Results based on 5.0 Mustang Magazine December 2002 issue (page 55). Test car is a 90 Coupe with 370 HP and 11 second potential. A number of 66 pulls were made to compile this information. Where does your muffler stack up?

The results in HP order:

1.Flowtech Warlock (open) 374.2 hp/ 333.1 tq
2.Bassani Real Street 373.7 hp/ 333.8 tq
3.Hooker Maxflow 373.5 hp/ 333 tq
4.Borla XS 373.3 hp/ 332.6 tq
5.Magnaflow 372.8 / 332.5 tq
6.MAC 372.3 hp / 331.5 tq
7.Flowtech Afterburner 372.3 hp/ 330.1 tq
8.Hooker Aerochamber 372.1 hp/ 330.4 tq
9.Bassani 372 hp/ 333.5 tq
10.Spintech 371.6 hp/ 332.2 tq
11.Edelbrock Performer RPM 370.9 hp / 331.3 tq

Definatly put an x on it, it will be much louder, the prochamber acts as another muffler imo.

Scrap the shorties, equal or not, be a man and get some longtubes.

Longtubes are quieter at idle, but when you open them up you better close your ears. Sounds much different. I promise you, some MAC LT's into your prochamber into your catback will sound awesome.
