exhaust...h-pipe?

I'm not sure on stock exhaust mainifolds, but I do have a small clue on headers.

Where the collector bolts to the headers spray some paint ( cheap paint)starting there and heading back towards the rear. You don't have to go that fair just about a foot or two. Once your done start the motor and let the exhaust heat up to the point where it starts burning the paint. Where it stops buring the paint is the idea place to put a "H" pipe. This is usualy around the tail shaft of the gear box so try and get it as close as you can to where the paint stoped buring at. Now if you really want the best go with a "X" pipe

Where the headers "end" is where you bolt-on the mid-pipe. The cats are located ON the mid-pipe, they are not seperate. The headers bolt onto the factory H-pipe (GT's/Cobras), then bolt to your mufflers. There is a flange at the end of the headers and at the beginning of the mid-pipe that bolt together. When buying mid-pipes, there are 2 kinds to choose from, catted and off-road. A catted mid-pipe simply means that is has catalytic converters on it. An off-road pipe means there are no cats (means no catalytic converters ANYWHERE on the exhaust). Thats why off-road pipes are louder and udually don't pass emissions.
