Hi,

I've been reading alot of threads on exhaust sounds, listening to clips and they have all been helpful.

I was hoping I can get a few opinions from a different perspective.

Due to work I do alot of talking on my cell phone in my car through my Kenwood DNX5120.

I'm not worried so much about the exhaust being too loud but more about the ability for me to continue to be able to talk on my cell phone. I don't want something so loud inside the car that the people I am talking to can't hear or understand me or vice versa.

I'm looking for a nice low bass like rumble without a ton of drone.

I have been looking at a few exhausts:

FRPP GTA's
Boomtubes
Flowpath
Bassani Street

Any opinions on interior noise level and the ability to talk on a handsfree bluetooth device would be great.

Thank You,

Marc

Pretty much any axle back swap will be ok except for very close to or WOT. If you're worried about interior exhaust noise for phone conversations don't go with an off road midpipe!!!!!

You could also invest in a bluetooth headset like a jawbone which does a phenomenal job at eliminating background noise. Plus, chances are your state will soon be passing some type of law requiring use of a hands free device while driving.

Washington actually just passed a law like that just a month or so ago.

The in dash unit I have is a handsfree bluetooth system, it's the Kenwood DNX5120, works really well.

I'm leaning towards a Bassani or a FRPP GTA. Probably will make a decision this week.

I used the Pypes Violators for 6 months and went back to stock. I couldn't stand the drone and I'm a believer that you can lose your hearing if you subject yourself to the droning. I just want the car to go fast but sound good. I feel that Ford did a great job with the OE exhaust system.

Wow I am assuming you have a automatic because I just put the Pypes cat back Violator kit on my 09 5spd and I have no cabin drone as long as I don’t lug the engine. It drones a little at 59-64 mph but it is not bad once you get the cruse set and turn up the toons a bit and I don’t mean very loud at all. But I did find the worst thing you can do is have the back seat down lol wow you turn the hole car into a echo chamber . but that is MHO we will see what happens when they break in and the glass pack (or whatever is in them) burns in good.
:D

Check my signature, it's a manual 07 GT w/ factory 3.55s

They droned badly at 1800-2000 RPM to the point I couldn't stand them anymore. If you're into loud mufflers, you may want to give them a try. I think the stock cats and stock H-pipes really held them back. I heard a co-worker's 05 GT with Bassani mufflers, Pro chamber, and off-road pipes - that was like 20x louder than what I had and I'm sure he's lost some hearing after driving it for several years.

The Violators are empty mufflers and do not use glasspacking or any type of resonant material.

Sorry mate this is only 3nd car I have owned in my life:nonono:. Everything I have driven in the last 12 years has come with a BW-t18/19 a C-6 with BB/SB bell housings or a C-4. So as you can tell I am a little behind on the jargon coming off of a total POS Chevy cobalt:notnice: for the last 3 years lol (finally back to my ford roots/pride). I assumed that all the 05-09 shared the same transmission, mine came with a 44k I did not realize it was the same as the tr-3650 so I hope you can see the confusion. As for the muffler I was left with the understanding they have something in them, I was not told what so based on the design I thought it would be glass fiber packing.
