I have a 87 5.0 speed density car.
At start up the car runs fine...then when nominal temp at full throttle at 4000-5500 rpm the exhaust is popping and lose power at every pop.

the car has minor mods...exhaust..throttle body...fuel regulator..msd coil.. thats it for engine..

no computer codes.....
spark gap is at 0.050-0.051
timing is at 11 with an aod....any less more popping and any more pinging...
fuel pressure set from 40 to 46 w/out vacuum same amount of popping...
have newer plugs...wires...cap and rotor...still same....
tps is good....
like I said car runs great before car is completely warmed up

ask any questions
let me know what you think..

Thats almost totally opposite of most stangs, as they tend to get exhuast pops when cold. Generally, popping exhaust is unburnt fuel in the pipes. So you can conclude that your running rich when warm. Why? I do not know. Possibly your fp is changing or your ignition is changing when the car warms up. Good luck.

What is the least fuel pressure I should run?

I'm at just under 40..32 with vacuum and it has the least popping...

I changed ignition modules and got the popping had none before....

I'll lower the pressure a little and if that dont work..I'll upgrade to msd ignition
