exhaust question?

i just took off my turndowns and put on the factory tailpipes. i found out that the mufflers are 2 1/4 in will this hurt my performance? i have an 2 1/2 h pipe on, it just the tailpipes.

i had a 2 1/2 in h-pipe and 2 1/4 flowmasters and tail pipes on my car and switched to 2 1/2 race bullets and dumps and it made a world of difference....it definetly felt like my car was revving better and running smoother

ok i got a newb exhaust question. what is a cat back? i know what cats are but what the bac about?

Its the rear most part of the exhaust, it is flowtubes from the h, mufflers, and tailpipes. All refered to as a catback, but if you have no cats, then is it still a catback

A cat back is a bolt on kit that you can buy. Basically you leave from the motor to the catalytic converters alone then add mufflers and tailpipes as a kit. This way you get a little more performance and a better sound but are still emissions lega.
