i'm about o buy an 88 lx 2.3. the car is in pretty good shape and it doesn't need much, but it does need a new exhaust. i'm goin to be doin a 2.3T swap somewhere down the road, but not too far from now. should i wait until after the swap or can i just tie the 2.3T into whatever exhaust i get with the N/A motor? i'm kinda new to this stuff and would appreciate any help i could get. thanks.

You can go ahead and fix the exhaust now. If you use a turbo exhaust manifold that locates the turbo in the stock location, it'll all bolt up. You can run the stock system in the beginning to get the car running and get the bugs worked out of it, but you may want to make improvements later on.

No it won't. The turbo exhaust bolts to the engine about 6" away from where the n/a exhaust bolts up. It's not even close. Besides the fact that a good turbo exhaust system is 3" and the n/a stuff is barely 2".

Save your money, do it all after the swap.

thanks for the input. i may not have to worry about the exhaust just yet as it turns out. i found a notch with the drivetrain pulled for 250. i'm going to look at it this week and if it's in any kind of shape, i'm just gonna use that one and start from the ground up. i'd rather have the notch anyway.
