hey guys,

i'm preparing for my engine removal so i started removing the exhaust. i got the h pipe to header bolts out but i think the place that installed my offroad h pipe did some bad work. if you look at the attached pictures, there are these hanger things that are loosely welded on to the pipe. i don't know if these are the oem hangers that the exhaust place cut and just welded on or if they are something else. To get the exhaust off, should i just hacksaw these hangers off or can they slide out some sort of way?

also, there is another pipe welded on closer to the bend that goes up to the header on the passenger side and it looks like it connects to the smog quipment in the engine bay. i don't have a smog pump so should i just hack saw this one off too or can i disconnect if from the smog equipment in the engine bay?

The hangers should slide right out. That pipe there represents the tube that fed air to the catalytic converters. Most manufacturers put them on the offroad h pipes so you can still plug everything in properly. If you have no smog and no worries of having to put that stuff back on then it should be no issue to weld that up.

Everything said above is correct. As an aside, don't ever go back to the place that did that work. That is some of the most hacked crap I have ever seen.

thanks, i learned a little since i got the car so i will not be going back to that place. i now live in OH so i will probably just pick up a new o/r h pipe from summit.

i'm trying to clarigy the pipe for that is welded on for the smog equipment. can i just loosen it from where it is attached in the engine bay and when i pull out the exhuast will it just come out witht he h pipe since it is weded on? then i can just hack saw it off.

thanks again
