My header to cat studs broke on my equal length bbk headers. I took them out and have yet to try to remove the broken studs. There is about 1/2 on non-threaded surface to work with. Any recom's on taking them out? Also anyone know offhand the size of the studs i will need to replace them with? thanks for the support

Heres what I did

I had this problem with my headers also. Forget tring to get the rest of it out. Your just gonna make yourself frustrated. What I did was drill out the stud with a carbide bit. The hardest bit you can find and drill the stud out. Get a stainless steel bolt and nut and put it all the way through with a double nut on the end. Sealed just fine and now I have no problems unbolting it when I need to. Dont forget to use heat valve when drilling and anti-seize when you done. Good Luck

Heat them glowing red like the exhaust shops do if possible. This is the easiest way.

Penetrating oil likely won`t work and using a stud remover without heat will likely break the stud again.

Without heat, you will probably have to drill them out which is a pita.

The diameter of the studs should be 7/16" not sure on the exact length.
You could make your own studs using some 7/16" threaded rod cut to size.

heat the stud up with a torch and than melt a regular tea candle or any other kind of candle so that the wax runs into the threads. than put a set of vice grips on it and try to turn it out. the wax works better than pb blaster and anything else.
