I think that an h-pipe has a deeper sound. I had both on my 94 x and h and I like the h-pipe better. sounds real clean and deep.

+1... im currently running off road h w/ a 2 chamber flowmaster... sounds great... to me, IMHO, H pipe is more deep, where as the X to me is more agressive... just my .02

To me O/R H = American Muscle sound, X-pipe is more exotic sounding.

94stangGT302,
If you are still trying to determine which mufflers or cat back to purchase I would highly recommend flows. Before I bought my stang 2 years ago I said to myself that I would never get flowmaster's for it because most everyone has them on 5.0 stangs. Well I bought the car and it had flowmasters on it but truth is IMO there is no other muffler that sounds as good as flowmasters do on 5.0's. I just love it.

another choice is to go the route im gonna go... stock cat back with an h pipe... aparently you only gain like 3 hp from the cat back anyway... i could be wrong though

haha, kind of cool how all the 'older' guys stay out of this never ending thread. No pun intended, but do a search, trust me, there's plenty of info on it.

o/r H's are great for chammbered exhaust (Flows). While o/r X's are good for resinating exhaust Bassani), I could be wrong on the x tho so don't quote me just yet.
IMO tho Flows sound so much better w/ an H pipe than an X.

ive got a catted X with resonators and it sounds totally different than my old catted H with flowmasters, and alot louder too. I still agree that the best sounding 5.0's are O/R Hpipe and 2 chamber flows tho.

Ive ran off road H's and flows on every mustang Ive owned, and they all sounded sweet. But now that Ive switched over to the bassani set up I will never use a set of flows ever again. Bassani's sound so much better w/ less drone. (JMHO) Dont get me wrong flows still sound sweet but every one and their grandmother has them.
