Exhuast: All at once, or piece by piece?

I'm about to do some exhaust work to my car. Would it be better to do everything at once (i.e. header, h-pipe, cat-back), or do one thing at a time? If I were to start with a cat-back, would doing an h-pipe and headers down the road be harder, or more expensive? I'm going to have a shop put this stuff on. So basically, would it be cheaper and less of a hassle to do it all at once, or just spread it out? Thanks

If you have the money,do it all at once!! But you will probably end up trying a few different mufflers,within the next 6 month's,gotta find that rite sound

ive been told to do it all at once too (although finances tend to interfere with that)

all at once. without a doubt. i used BBK products and am happier with them than i was my bassani. and they are cheap. headers and h-pipe are easy to install, save the money.

I would go all at once also.

All or none. When you bolt on everything from the headers back it's like transforming your car into a completely different beast.

Ok, next question. Do headers, h-pipes, and cat-backs require welding? I will probably go with BBK headers and h-pipe, and a Flowmaster American Thunder cat-back. If there is no welding, I can do it myself.

The Flowmasters are going to need welded, but the H will bolt to the headers and usually the catback/mufflers bolt to the H but i've seen a rare few that dont. You'll have to weld the tail pipes to the mufflers at least.



This is one reason (aside from being relatively cheap) that i buy MAC. They're not the best you can put on your car but they sound sick and they're 100% bolt on parts, which is great since i dont have a welder.

Does Mac make headers too? Because I LOVE doing my own work, but I can't weld. So if I could get an entire exhaust that was bolt-on, that'd be great.

I did mine one at a time (funds were limited) but I wanted to do it right the first time, I went all stainless, I bought the bassani X first, then the magnaflow cat-back, and recently I finished with FRPP ceramic coated headers, no welding required with this set up, in total it took me 6hrs to do the whole thing on the floor in my garage on ramps. Like you I get more out of doing it myself, plus with the money you save you can get something else.

They make everything from unequal length shorty headers to full length headers, midpipes and exhaust systems.

Definetly go MAC if you want bolt-together and save money with a cheaper and yet good cat-back. I want a mac cat-back, and am getting one soon (damn weld in flows YOU SUCK, found out they were weld ins) and the only problem my cousin has with them is if you don't keep the tips clean, they will rust. But I'm sure you wash your car a lot, and if you keep them tips clean, no worries. Oh ya, definetly go all at once if you can, but piece by piece isn't too bad. A midpipe and cat-back would be a good start at least. Good luck to ya, .
