Exhuast on a 99! For my g/f...

She bought a V6 and the v6 forums are dead... I always post on here... I heard some exhaust on v6 and they sound good on low rpms but as the go higher... It sounds awful like rice... I was wondering where is a good deep sounding exhaust for the v6 and what all else will I need... And mac is out of the question I have it on my car

I've heard a clip of a v6 with GT take off catback, it sounded alright.

i love the way my mac sounds... for the price you cant beat it... Yeah i am swapping my motor out of my 97 but she doesnt want it... Gas milege... So maybe a blower in a year or two could be realistic... ANyone know of any place I can hear sound clips of v6 exhausts... I heard em on v8's... She jus wants it to look good... So 17's or 18's will be going on when she gets the cash... I will only buy stuff for hp or maybe a saleen kit if we get married... But I am only 20 so we will see about that!

Before I got my GT, i had a 97 V6. I put GT take-off duals on it with a pair of Borla mufflers. IT sounded awesome for a V6, not ricey at all. Had a good deep idle and it was a deep sound acrosse the rpms. As for loudness, it was decently loud. Got people to look over if i reved it and at around 55-60 mph u could hear the exhaust if you were driving a few car lengths back (I got my bro to drive it and i followed in his jeep to hear it). I got compliments on it all the time. Personally, I think going with Borla mufflers will be the closest you can get to making a V6 sound like a V8. I loved the sound of that car......till i put Flows on my GT!!!

As far as what else you can do to her V6, I'll tell you everything else I had on my 97 V6 to give u a few ideas:
-GT take-off dual exhaust, Borla mufflers
-JBA headers (i think...previous owner had them put on)
-K&N airfilter
-ram air
-Saleen S-351 spoiler
-reprogrammed computer
-u/d pullies
-Cobra "R" rims
-Taylor spark plug wires w/ NGK spark plugs
-headlight blackouts
-remote foglights
-rockford fosgate 10" subs w/ Kenwood 600 watt amp, Sony x-plod headunit

Do all 99+ V6's "cut out" when you rev them up high? On my friends, when it hits close to top RPM the motor ligs bogs and cuts out. Its weird..

my friend has flowmasters on his v6. it sounds good, not as deep as a v8 but not ricey at all.

the spintech side exit exhaust i had on old v6 sounded awsome better than any other v6 i ever heard by far

my friend has a 96 v6, and he had a shop make him some duals with 2 chamber flows. i was pretty jealous at the sound because mine was stock back then. so yeah, it sounded nice. not as nice as mine does now though, but his; for a v6 sounded good. and take off the cats too
