Picked one up from a friend, and it needs new clutches. Trying to look for a rebuild kit- would this work?

If it's for a 03/04 cobra (which has 31 splines), then shouldn't it work for mine?

Ya, that will work as long as your explorer carrier is a traction lock and not an open diff.

I used that same disc kit when I did my rebuild. It worked for my stock T-Lok which is 28 spline (not 31).

The title of this thread says "Explorer 8.8". Are you trying to use the complete Explorer rear end in your Mustang? If so it won't work without doing some time consuming modifications.

Did you notice any difference between that and the functional stock unit?

The spider gears are what determine the number of splines on the axles, not the clutch packs.

Did you notice a difference between your stock limited slip and the one rebuilt with the 03 Cobra style carbon discs?

Honestly, I didn't really feel much of a difference while driving on the street cuz I can hardly get any traction anyways. But when I went to the track for the first time with my drag radials I noticed it would give me a little bit better launches.
Once I get my suspension upgraded, I might notice it more...
